What was your favorite course?
It is very hard to pick a favorite course. The curriculum provided me with the knowledge and skills to be successful. The required textbooks were relevant to the course and provided me with a lot of useful information. The news articles and links that were shared during the courses helped me to apply the information that I was learning to my current position in Human Resources. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the classes because I took something different away from all of them and can apply them throughout my professional career. The professors brought something unique to every course which made the classes interesting and insightful. The professors have such impressive educational and professional backgrounds. Their experiences have helped to create a competitive Human Resources Online Master’s Program. The professors personal experiences have really help to contribute to my success and growth.
What was your most valuable lesson?
The most valuable lesson that I learned from the Human Resources Online Master’s Program was to not be afraid to ask questions. While attending undergraduate courses at The University of Scranton, I was fearful of raising my hand. The online master’s program allowed me to ask questions without being fearful. I gained a new level of confidence that I was able to apply to my daily responsibilities at my job. My renewed confidence has allowed me to ask questions or bring my opinions to the table during meetings. I learned that the first step in eliminating fear is not being afraid to having your opinions disagreed with and the Master’s Program format has allowed me to boost my confidence to be successful. I believe confidence is extremely important and necessary for career growth.
What has this degree enabled you to do?
My Master’s degree in Human Resources has allowed me to take the knowledge that I gained in class and apply it daily. I am able to utilize online resources that were recommended by my professors in order to keep me aware of changes in federal and state regulations. This is extremely important in my role because you need to ensure that you are continuously compliant with the ever changing federal and state regulations. The Program has also helped me develop valuable skills that are necessary to advance in my career in Human Resources.
What impact has this degree had on your career?
Shortly after I completed the last course, I was promoted from my role as a Human Resources Specialist to an Associate Human Resources Generalist.
I believe that all of the faculty members that I worked with at The University of Scranton have really contributed to my continued career success. I really enjoyed all of the courses and I have learned so much from each. I believe that the knowledge I have gained from the Human Resources Online Master’s Program contributed to my promotion at work. Shortly after I completed the last course, I was promoted from my role as a Human Resources Specialist to an Associate Human Resources Generalist. I was able to take what I learned in the courses and apply it daily in my career. Since completing the program I now take the initiative and suggest new ideas to improve processes at work. The Program has completely changed my life in such a positive way. It was one of the best decisions that I made and the Program exceeded my expectations.
What advice would you share with future students?
The advice that I would share with future students is that you get out of the Program and courses what you put into them. Be prepared to attend a very competitive program and work hard to achieve success. Do not be afraid to ask questions. Interact with the other students on the discussion boards. I learned about the diverse backgrounds in Human Resources and everyone has different experiences and insight which will help broaden your learning experience. Enjoy every moment of the program. Lastly, be prepared to accept the fact that by attending the University of Scranton’s Human Resources Online Master’s Program you will gain the skills/knowledge to advance in your career.
