Gauge your personal development as a human resources professional.
In HR 520 Capstone Applied Human Resources, you’ll demonstrate the knowledge gained in previous courses as well as your ability to develop and decide on courses of action in accordance with ethical standards of human resources and related disciplines.
Throughout this course, you’ll analyze complex case studies that integrate many of the concepts learned throughout the program. In doing so, you’ll demonstrate systematically integrating the concepts learned through formulating and defending solutions to the case issues.
This course addresses the many topics as covered in SHRM’s Assurance of Learning® Assessment for graduating Human Resources student, including employee relations, strategy, compensation, and training.
You’ll create written works consisting of a clear and logical progression of points through professionally written, scholarship-based, and comprehensive analyses of the human resources-related situations presented in the cases.
In a class made up of current and aspiring human resources professionals, you’ll share with each other your experiences related to focus areas in which research has shown that improved skill development is still needed.
Lastly, you’ll use this course as a springboard for continuing your own personal development by either updating the seven leadership competencies or the leadership inventory items that were presented in HR 500 Organizational Behavior and Leadership. You’ll reflect on the knowledge gained and the skills developed during your time in this program to create future development plans.
Upon reviewing the Competency Assessment and Development Plan you will have prepared in HR 500, you’ll complete a full analysis of your progress in each of the seven competency areas. You’ll then prepare at least one new development goal that you intend to accomplish for each of the seven competency areas in the near future.
