OM 545 Quality Management

Never stop improving.

8 weeks

Ensuring that your product or service continues to evolve and improve in quality is just good business. It keeps your product competitive. But quality is about more than just output. Organizational quality involves both managerial and technical aspects that are applied throughout a company and along its supply chain — from policies to processes, from the boardroom to the loading dock, quality requires everyone’s participation.

Where does this course fall in your Flex curriculum?
OM 545 is one of five advanced courses offered within the Operations Management specialization.

Course Overview

Automaker Henry Ford addressed the concept of quality by saying, “Quality means doing it right when no one is looking.” When organizations achieve a successful total quality transformation, they are able to reduce costs, generate loyal customers, and gain a competitive edge.

In this course, you’ll learn various definitions of quality and about different quality improvement frameworks — including the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (U.S.), ISO 9000 International Quality Standards (Europe), Six Sigma and Lean. You’ll appreciate the importance of leadership and strategic quality planning, with an emphasis on using quality costs, in driving improvement and innovation.
