Customize the capabilities of technology to your company’s advantage.
The computer cannot replace a manager overseeing operations, but it can make the manager more efficient at his or her job. This is apparent in the use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) business software, which used by almost all manufacturing organizations today.
Where does this course fall in your Flex curriculum?
ERP 510 is one of seven advanced courses offered within this program’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) specialization.
Course Overview
By helping managers operate companies in an integrated and efficient fashion, ERP systems are reshaping the way the world does business. In ERP 510, you’ll learn how this transformation is taking place as you explore the relationships between ERP systems, organizational strategy, and competitive advantage.
This is a hands-on course and through participating in an ERP simulation game, you’ll imagine yourself in an operations management role of a manufacturing company. The simulation allows you and team members to participate in a competition simulating real market conditions.
The goal in this game will be to manage your company’s operations better than the competition and make more profits. Using the SAP ERP system, you’ll interact with suppliers and customers by sending and receiving orders, delivering their products and completing the whole cash-to-cash cycle.
You’ll take part in a semester-long management “game” that simulates a manufacturing business environment.
Through this game, you’ll view business processes across accounting, marketing, procurement, production, and human resources as one integrated customer-oriented value chain to be managed from the perspective of the overall enterprise. You’ll also examine the optimization of business processes and their integration through the effective deployment of enterprise systems technology such as mySAP software.
